Webinar series on point of care quality improvement for maternal and newborn health

The Network for Improving Quality of Care for Maternal and Newborn Health (Quality of Care Network), through its global Learning Platform, is building a community of health practitioners across all levels of service delivery, to harvest local implementation ideas and share experiences within and across countries. As part of its learning activities, the Quality of Care Network is organizing a series of webinars on selected topics on quality of care improvement from a country perspective, as well as quality improvement implementation science.

The first webinar series speaks to capacity building for improving quality of care in health facilities.

Summary: This webinar will presentdiagnostic tools to identify the root causes of a quality of care problem, and explain how to develop indicators to measure progress in solving the problem.

The webinar will introduce participants to:

  • Tools for understanding processes and systems and how to use them
  • How using these tools can help identify possible solutions to reach your aim
  • How to choose indicators for process and outcome
  • How to use these indicators to track progress of improvement

The presentation will be followed a Q & A session.

Point of care quality improvement for maternal and newborn health – Step 3: Developing, implementing and testing changes

Date (TBC): 25 May 2017, 3 pm CEST, 9 am EST

Summary: This webinar will look at how quality improvement teams in facilities can identify some change ideas that they think will work to solve a given quality of care issue, review the possible change ideas, test them in their workplace and adapt them as required.

The webinar will introduce participants to:

  • How to develop ideas about what to change to reach your aim
  • How to test these changes using Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles
