• Setting Research Priorities to Reduce Almost One Million Deaths from Birth Asphyxia by 2015 20-04-2015

Neonatal Research Priorities

As described by Lawn, et al. in 2011, 98% of neonatal deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries with a significant portion of these deaths attributed to birth asphyxia; however, the investment in research funding for neonatal survival is extremely low. Moving forward, future research investments must concentrate in this area if additional reductions in neonatal mortality are to be seen.
