Helping Babies Breathe: global neonatal resuscitation program development and formative educational evaluation? 30-03-2015
In 2011, Singhal N, et al. evaluated Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) at sites in Kenya and Pakistan. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, HBB was created to reduce birth asphyxia in all settings, especially those which have limited resources.
Ultimately, participants demonstrated high satisfaction, high self-efficacy and gains in knowledge and skills after taking part in an HBB training program. Mastery of ventilation skills and integration of skills into case management was not achieved by the majority of participants; however, it is possible that these skills may be developed with additional practice, continued learning, and active mentoring in the workplace.
