Goal: Improve health of mothers, children, adolescents and young people, in regions of the Mouhoun, Central, Sahel and East. The Ministry of Health and its partners requested support through the RMNCH Country Engagement Process to procure medical and technical equipment including 500 resuscitation masks for newborns, 75 delivery tables, monitors, pulse oximeters, oxygen concentrators and haemoglobinometers for facilities. This will benefit the health of mothers and children at community level in the regions of the Mouhoun, Eastern, Central and the Sahel. The country team equipped and trained 18 providers to offer enhanced reproductive health and family planning services for adolescents and youth. Newborn and child health commodities were provided including tools for clinical and community IMCI and ready to use therapeutic foods (RUTF) for the treatment of severe acute malnutrition. In addition, Burkina Faso is running a Expanded Programme on Immunization which covered 459 health facilities, and scaling up Rapid SMS to improve monitoring of maternal and neonatal deaths and availability of data on the health of adolescents and youth.
