In 2014, the support that Niger got focused on reproductive health. In 2015, the Ministry of Health and its partners, having completed an RMNCH Country Engagement Process, received support for the RMNCH Trust Fund. They expanded their activities and provided support to 600 health centers with IMCI materials, consumables and essential drug kits, and reproductive health commodities. Over 600 providers have also been trained on maternal and newborn care.
In addition, the country team set up 16 mobile clinics to provide access to RMNCH services in hard to reach settings and rehabilitated 16 maternity wards, now fully equipped with energy supply sanitary facilities, covering a catchment area of 270,000. A voucher scheme enabled free deliveries, supporting more than 83,000 attended births.
